The COVID 19 pandemic

Hello and welcome to our first section of podcasts called “The COVID 19, pandemic.” Which contains three episodes, my name is Arelys Dávila and today I’m gonna talk  to you about the impact of COVID 19 in society.

The COVID 19 pandemic brought a lot of issues in our society, it drove a large number of people crazy with countless fake news, besides, others took advantage of the hard situation.

When the pandemic started in China, we never thought that it would get to us. At that moment some young people made a lot of memes about it. However, that fun turned out in something quite different later on, getting to a lot of countries really quickly and infecting thousands of people in record time.

Besides, when the pandemic got worse in our country some people took advantage of the situation, for instance, some of them began to raise the prices of some products such as masks, alcohol, liquid soap, and others. As well we know all these products help to reduce the infection of the virus; in public places, the use of these products turned into an indispensable requirement.

In addition, the misuse of information about the pandemic made that many individuals believed in fake information that most of the time did not provide evidence about what was being shared. One of the main effects of it was that the population became stressed and hysterical.

Lastly, discrimination is one of the problems that the pandemic has left, that is to say, those individuals who get infected have to go through uncomfortable situations for example: if a person is infected nobody wants to get close to him or her, that person is excluded from different activities in which they are not a risk for anyone. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to our second episode of the COVID 19 pandemic, my name is Julio Dávila and today I’m gonna talk to you about how were some families affected by the pandemic.

When the pandemic started many businesses, companies, factories, and churches closed their doors temporarily. In our country, this represented a huge challenge especially with the poorest ones because if they did not work, they did not eat. Besides many citizens had to quit their jobs to protect their families from infection and others were fired because the economy was becoming weaker. There’s no doubt that the economy was affected greatly by this pandemic and many employees who used to work on-site were sent to work from home. Taking measures when preventing COVID 19 was one of the hardest parts, if in the past we used to hang out and meet with our families and friends very often now that is not possible with the social distancing. On top of that, when some people found themselves like they couldn’t do anything to have fun in that time, they just got stressful and they started going through periods of anxiety and even depression. When some families talked about this virus was impossible for them to not feel sadness especially if they lost somebody in these difficult circumstances and bearing in mind that those who passed away due to the virus couldn’t have a decent funeral due to the risk of infection and that was the part that a lot of people hurt them the most. Thank you for listening.

Hello and welcome to our last episode of the COVID 19 pandemic, This is Katherine Toruño, and I going to talk to you about Studying in time of the pandemic.

A lot of students, professors, and parents found themselves in disagreement when it came to discussing if the classes were going to be implemented online or on-site. When the pandemic started many parents decided not to send their children onto classes on-site, and many of those kids lost either a class semester or in other cases the whole scholar year. Besides, a lot of students who were studying in different universities just gave up on their majors. On the other hand, we have the students who decided to keep their studies online; however, many of them were going crazy with the use of some platforms to keep themselves active online. Also, a lot of students did not have a stable internet connection and that made their learning process even harder. Additionally, a lot of students took the pandemic as an excuse to not attend to classes on-site, but they were always going out to different places, such as parties, and other events where people are crowded and did not respect the social distancing and other measures to prevent COVID 19.

Thanks for listening, and we hope to have you back in our next section of Podcasts
